Vacation Bible School
|
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a ministry priority for our church! VBS is a nightly Bible school for children to have fun and learn about Jesus and his love for them. Each night, there is a fun time of worship, crafts, snacks, and games! We hold two weeks of VBS each summer; one for children preK through 6th grade and one for grades 6-12th grade

Backpack Ministry
|
Every year, since 2009, we have helped over 100 neighborhood children by supplying them with all their school supplies for the year. We work with the administrators of Emmett Gilbert School (pre-K through 8th grade) to identify the families in the most need of help. We do this in order to be a blessing to our community and to show the love of God living in us!

International Missions
Janlay, Guatemala
|
Our Church is active in supporting Southern Baptist missionaries all over the US and the world through our regular prayer and offerings. We are also active in taking short-term mission trips ourselves. We took our first international Mission Trip in 2009 to Puebla, Mexico.
Since 2012, we have been partnering with Janlay, a village in the mountainous Guatemalan Ixil region, through Food for the Hungry. We sponsor children in the Janlay and have gone on annual mission trips to visit the village since 2013. We run a VBS for the children, spend time visiting their homes to encourage and share the Gospel with them and their families, help the village with community and nutritional projects, and strengthen and encourage the local pastors and churches. We are seeing the Lord pour out great blessings on this community! |
Domestic Missions
2012 Ripley TN Mission Trip |
Every year since 2007 we have tried to take a domestic mission trip and run a Vacation Bible School for a church in an impoverished community. We have brought church members and families with us to minister in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas. This summer, we hope to take our fifth Mission trip to Parkin, Arkansas and continue to minister to the local church and their community.

LSU Concessions
|
Our community is not affluent. We don't have wealthy members who can underwrite the cost of our ministries. Therefore, we have to raise the funds needed for our mission trips. Our main fundraising efforts are through working a concessions stand at LSU. We work football, basketball and baseball home games to raise the money so that our members can go on mission trips without having to pay their own way. This requires the hard work and selflessness of dozens of volunteers that give of their time and effort to see the Lord's Kingdom work done! The work is tough and the day is long, however it is all worth it.
